a narf, a pool, and one bad flick.

disappointing? at the least. the anticipated new film, lady in the water by m. night shyamalan seemed almost a failure compared to his other films (the sixth sense, signs, and the village). needless to say i was surprise seeing i'm usually fascinated by just enough suspense in his films. i kept telling myself the whole movie..."it's going to get better....it's going to get better...", and it didn't. if anything, it got worse.

the narf, a nymph-like being traveling between realms (whaaat?), played by bryce dallas howard, was the only character i did not find myself displeased with. her role in the village was one of the best as well and it will be interesting to see where her career takes off from here (spider-man 3 is next...change of pace perhaps?). speaking of the cast...i honestly found it intriguing that m. night placed himself in a small role for his previous films. however, maybe he is a little too anxious to be the shining star. he played a pretty significant role in the movie, consisting within some of the main characters! no i'm not denying he's a decent actor, but it started to feel a bit overdone. the whole film did actually. a bit too out there. a bit too dream-like. well, i suppose in all reality it was actually inspired by a bed time story of ancient times. but still...i didn't receive the same spooky chills that i had known throughout his other films.

alright, so i'm covering the surface and making it sound pretty bad. well that's because it was. see for yourself if you'd like. just please spare your money and give your $10.50 to a better cause. so what's next for shyamalan? the word on the street is possibly directing the next harry potter. i wonder who he'll play in this film....

That's too bad. I usually enjoy his work. And, I buy his DVD's too. I'm not overly surprised though.

I hate to say this, but I think Paul Giamatti's big day was in Sideways.

By the way...
Remember that scene in Signs when the little kids were at a birthday party and that alien walked by the bushes. Creepy! Now that I think of it, the ending to Signs was really corny.

I saw the village and was disappointed... I feel like he's in a downward spiral - sad to say. My aunt and uncle saw it and told me it wasn't worth seeing. The sad part is out here it is on all of the billboards and on advertisements everywhere - I always wonder when a movie gets that much hype it normally SUCKS! Too bad...
