271 days till graduation....but whos really counting?

so it was ok. my first day back was as expected. today doesn't really say much about the rest of the semester cause you don't exactly do anything. however, i think it's going to be relatively easygoing. i mean, 4 classes, a directed study, and an internship? oh speaking of which....i got it! well its first and foremost a job, but the owner agreed to give me internship credits. this only means that i'll have it after i get through this semester which is a wonderful thing. so 3 credits of working, designing and printing? - and being paid at the same time - way worth it. anyways, the place is called a good sign company. some clients are channel 10, the little theater, arenas, a few side projects for wegmans and strong hospital, and alot of other smaller companies. it's going to be such a good experience and provide me with so many connections. i tell ya, i search all summer for something like this and boom - within 3 days i get something. .....amazing......

down point for the day - my friend craig who is also in photo II told me that they are not going to be doing as much digital photography like how they did in the past. i guess are new art division chair is having us do both 35 mm and digital. i'm ok with that if i have to be. however, i might push my way through and focus on more digital photography. my 35 mm is from japan and from 1980 anyway so...it did me for photo I but i'm ready to move on thanks. i met him today and i'm not sure if i like him yet....i miss professor baker. anyway....this is becoming a longer vent than intended.
positive point for the day - i found the book "perspectives" that i have been looking for for months! who would have thought that our little book store would have it over barnes and noble and borders. anyway....it made my day. can't wait to start reading on top of all my other reading. joy.

the search has....ended?

as i wrote earlier, i'm entering my senior year on monday and have been looking endlessly for an internship for this coming fall/spring. nothing. all summer. well, i did have the one interview with "wegmans photography". sounds great huh? yea they made it sound great in there job posting too....
'looking for a skilled graphic designer to be a technical photographic lab assistant. must have experience in the graphics field and an expert in photoshop, illustrator, etc. must have skill in photography and digital touch up....'blablabla
oh it went on....so i got an interview, went, and come to find out.....well, you know the little kiosk stands in the mall that take your picture and put them on tshirts and mugs and mouse pads? it was wegmans version. soooo my question was....i dont want this job. it will do nothing for me...do i really make myself sound bad in this interview? well, i didn't...and just went along with it. to make a long story short. i DIDN'T get it, and that was fine with me. (note-when leaving the interview, the manager was telling me that its so hard to find a job now days because people are so "over-qualified"........hmmmm.) anyways....life definitely went on after that point. after one other interview with chase pitkin advertising (which i can proudly say i never want to be a part of - end of story) i moved on and waited for something else to come up....

well, it has.

i have an interview tomorrow with my old friend ann mcCracken. she owns a sign shop on culver and is really ecstatic about seeing me and my work. i'm hoping it will be more digital printing instead of painting but i'll find out. so tomorrow it is. we'll see how it goes. its not exactly bullseye-ing what i want to do but oh wait....rochester doesn't have what i want to do. so we'll see how it goes....i just want to get my foot in the door somewhere and keep moving up in this field. i love it....
so tomorrow it is.i'll keep you updated....

315ers

so emery was good last night....syracuse shows always have such a different vibe compared to rochester. was sad to miss the rochester show....however, christine made a good statement that i think is worth agreeing with.

was pleasently surprised with gym class heros. had a late late breakfast at the little gem diner with my toronto girls. was so good to see amanda and hill. hillary's theory that was shared at the table was quite positive and uplifting...however, i think it might offend some readers. well maybe not...anyways. point being, we left the diner with a sweet smell.we're making history....you just don't know it yet.

big wedding this saturday.....i'm excited to see more of this action.

dead..sweet... what?

the melodic boys are back. new music, new album, new design < which i'm definitely quit fond of. its beau tiful...i wonder if a new website is in the works. it better be....

from the words of brett detar,"We've been rotating the same 20-25 songs in our live show for the past three years...We are excited to finally let some of these cats out of the bag." finally. this was needed two years ago. anyone agree? september 13 is the big day. look for deadbeat sweetheartbeats then. (brett probably thought of that one)until then....they'll be at the icon in buffalo on the 30th with there slicked hair and cowboy boots. oh i love it.

goodbyes, goodluvn', and the big city

sad to say goodbye, but ian is off to spain to rendezvous with "hot senoritas" (taken from the lips of his great grandfather). after visiting pollock, newman, picasso, and of course andy worhal, we began our new york city fix.

from the village to soho, grand central to chelsea, we shopped till we dropped. including a little purchase from the well designed mac store. forget clothes....it was all about accessories, including the magnetic hat that was passed around and saw everything.

metro cards, cocktails, and christopher....

coffee is always a blessing at 1 am. the artificial energy provided a rave in the car on the way home with flashing head lights and dome lights. try it sometime...only your play list will never be as good as ours.
i miss the city, but i'm going to miss ian more. a reunion is planned for december when he comes home for the holidays. until then....

the worst has happened.

so the whole couch story? it continues. you'll never believe what happens. the owner of the couch calls lisa back and asks if we are coming for the other section of this nine piece sectional. lisa kinda makes it sounds like we don't really want it/don't really care and that they can just leave it on the curb in hopes for someone else to take it. now, theoretically, one would think this would be a done deal.....right? no. not at all actually. i guess she has someone else that wants the couch.....

so....to make a long second story short, we made a deal and said they could have the parts of the sectional that were still at there house, but that we wanted to keep the other parts. . . sorta. Unfortunately, we had the cushions to the OTHER couch and so yesterday while i was working, lisa and our friend toby drove down lake ave until coming in contact with the miracle dumpster. they got the cushions, dropped them off at the house, and called it a done deal. again...

well....not exactly. i guess this other guy is willing to give money for this ugly sectional and really really wants it. i can't believe it. we have to get out of this. any suggestions?
so i guess now there is a moral to this story.
however, i still don't know what it is....

to be continued....

french babies.

you will never understand the privledge of having a niece and/or nephew until you actually do. i am so attatched to margot and adam. nathan and mary have been up from maryland since the 21st and will be staying until the 8th. they are over almost everyday swimming....margot definitely loves the water...margot is the most beautiful and outgoing little 2 year old i have ever seen. i love when she yells out "aunt hann! aunt hann!"....it's so cute! when nathan was in wegmans with margot the other day

a 6 year old girl screamed to her mom...."LOOK MOM! a chinese baby!" embarrassed, her mom told her daughter margot was not a chinese baby. how random.

adam is only 2 weeks old and i can already tell he's going to be a professional snowboarder. aww strong little legs. i wonder when he'll be ready for his first run? his father is thinking 3...

none of us really think he looks like a laborie....do you?
